I admit that we are not friends.

I also admit that we don't intend to fall in love .

Even then , let's not look into each other's eyes 

For, the human hearts are unreliable. 

مانا کہ ہم یار نہیں

لو طے ہے کہ پیار نہیں

پھر بھی نظریں نہ تم مِلانا

دل کا اعتبار نہیں _____ !

However, stop for a handshake 

If we happen to meet on a road somewhere.

At least give me a passing smile .

If someone more important than me will be accompanying you . 

 But the smile should be a casual one , not signalling '' confession of love '' 

Neither should  your glance ask me something 

Which I fail to deny . 

راستے میں جو ملو تو

ہاتھ ملانے رُک جانا

ساتھ میں کوئی ہو تمہارے

دور سے ہی تم مُسکانا

لیکن مُسکان ہو ایسی

کہ جس میں اقرار نہیں

نظروں سے نہ کرنا تم بیاں

وہ جس سے انکار نہیں _____ !

The flower  concealed in the pages be turned into dust ;

If I am mentioned anywhere , you should brush it aside  as a blunder of yours .

However, you should not genuinely regret that blunder .

May you always fail to sleep peacefully like I do !
