Gandilatry: worshipping Mr Gandhi

 

Why do Indians worship Gandhi ?
Should we worship Gandhi too?

Well, I would like to  give a philosophical answer to this provocative and sensitive question .

وہ ایک سجدہ جِسے تو گراں سمجھتا ہے
ہزار سجدے سے دیتا ہے آدمی کو نجات

Why , how and whom do we WORSHIP knowingly and unknowingly?

Definition of WORSHIP : Worship is a  feeling or expression of deep respect for someone /something.

Therefore, if you feel or express deep respect for someone /something , you actually worship him/it . But, you can't worship anyone unless you obey him . You can't obey him unless you love him and you can't love him unless you know him . You can't know him unless you hear or read about him.
In other words , hearing, reading , knowing , loving and obeying are the pixels that form the complete picture called WORSHIP . 

Those who deny to worship Allah [God] are always worshipping someone/something else . They worship their wives , children , leaders, politicians, priests , gurus , doctor who writes medicine for them , pilot who asks them to tie their seatbelts while traveling by air , boss who fixes their work , arrival and departure , traffic lights  that stop them on a road  etc . No human being is born totally independent and absolutely free. Everyone has to worship some lower or higher authority , knowingly or unknowingly. Worshiping is the main aspect of our being . Every week contains a day or two dedicated to the people who we are encouraged to worship. I think , a time will come when all the days of  the year will be holidays and then people out of desperation will start anti-holidays compaigns  . To cut long story short,  Better worship the one ultimate authority [Allah] rather than various relative authorities [People/things].
