Paraphrase of the poem Apple-picking

Paraphrase of the poem
The narrator is describing his experience of picking apples . He says that he was plucking apples from a tree and is now feeling tired and sleepy. He has left a few apples on a branch of the tree unplucked . He needs to reach his bedroom fast lest he should fall asleep on the way. He is sure that he will be haunted by the day's work and he will see in dream all he has done during the day. He will see the apples. He will hear the sound of apples tumbling down the apple heap. He adds that apple-picking is a risky job. One has to stand all day on the steps of a ladder that sways and is thus dangerous to his life. He should not let any apple fall down as a fallen apple loses value and is rendered almost worthless. The apple-picking needs a lot of care and effort. Finally, he wonders whether he will have a sound or disturbed sleep. The poem ends on a note of skepticism.
