There are 13 kinds of noun in English language, according to my knowledge :
1.  Common noun : It refers to the name of any person, place or thing;  girl, dog, man, book, day etc
2.  Proper noun : It refers to the name of an individual person, place or thing ; eg Mansha, Moti, Abdul, Quran, Sunday etc

3. Material noun: It refers to the name of a substance of which things are made ; eg iron, copper, steel, gold, coal, silver, rice, wheat, milk, water, tea, sugar, rock, sunlight, rain, earth, salt,egg, meat, honey, silk, leather, wool,
cotton, food, oil, wood, jute, coffee, medicine, tea, rubber, perfume etc
4. Collective noun: It refers to the name of a collection or group of people or things  and it takes a SINGULAR verb; eg class, team, government, jury, federation, herd, crowd, army, police etc
The jury is well experienced.
The team is strong.
The class is making noise.
5. Multitude noun : It refers to the name of a collection or group of people or things  but  it takes a PLURAL verb; eg class, team, government, jury, federation, herd, crowd, army, police
The jury are dwelling on the matter.
The team are falling apart.
The class have been divided into three sections.
The police ARE coming. (Multitude Noun)
The police IS coming. (Collective Noun)
6. Abstract noun : It refers to the name of a person, place, thing, quality, state or concept of which we can only THINK of  but can't touch ; God, Angel, spirit, Hell, Heaven, Hoor, truth, love, anger honesty, cleverness, poverty, youth, joy, health, laughter, movement, flight, sweetness, beauty, hatred, fear etc
7. Countable noun: It refers to the name of nouns that can be counted ; eg  one PEN , two pens, three pens
One GUN , two guns, three guns
One HOME , two homes, three homes
8. Uncountable noun/mass noun : It refers to the name of nouns that CAN NOT be counted ; water, milk, ink, sugar, salt, butter etc
9. Compound noun: It refers to the noun that is composed of more than one words. A compound noun can be hyphenated, open or closed ; eg

10. Concrete noun :
It refers to nouns that can be touched.  eg pen, book, milk, sugar, gun, man, woman, bottle, bench, dumbbell, car, temple, mosque, money etc

11. Abbreviated noun: It refers to nouns that have been shortened or abbreviated over time  for easy use ;eg

Laboratory/  Lab
Rehabilitation= “rehab”
University= “uni”

12. LAD noun : It refers to Letters, abbreviations, acronyms and digits that are used as nouns. Eg
A B C D E...
Plural letters : A's, B's, C's, D's
I like A's.
The baby learnt A.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,...
Plural digits : 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's
3 is a lucky number.
10 is my favourite number.
MA, Msc, PG, MBBS, BA, WHO, OIC, UNO, PWD, Phd...
Plural acronym : MA's, MSc's, PG's
She is a PG.
He is doing Ph.D.
13. Substitute noun: It refers to a  group of words that replace a noun/pronoun in a sentence ; eg
I love swimming. (swimming is noun)
I love {taking off my clothes, jumping into water and then striking water with my limbs} . (words in long brackets replace noun)
I love sleep.
I love {lying flat on bed with my eyes closed} .
Sahil  is a teacher.
{That guy over there wearing blue shirt and white jeans} is a teacher.
A noun can belong to more than one kinds mentioned above. However, the correct context will tell you of its correct kind.
